RavenDB can be deployed to the edge, such as in a medical clinic or fast food restaurant, and run all computed data locally without touching a network or cloud resources. The point of this is to allow the database to run at local speed and remain unaffected by network mishaps.
RavenDB is actually uniquely suited to this kind of deployment. It allows you to run multiple instances in a “shared nothing” architecture (every instance is entirely separate). It also allows you to connect all these disparate instances into a united system where they share their data and work on it together.
